A great big thanks to each and every one of you who came out and participated in our show auditions. The cast list will be completed very soon and notifications sent in the mail. First rehearsal is MAY 1.

news from Mrs. Maffet

It is time to start collectiong items I will be raffleing during the performances of "Beauty And The Beast". Any new, nice gift that you may have and can't use. Items that others may like to buy a raffle ticket on. Also when you are collecting Sponsorships, some may not donate cash but will give an item or gift certificates. Make sure they will not expire before September 2008 or later. If they require a letterhead other than the cover sheet of the Sponsorship form, let me know. You may start turning these in to me as soon as we start rehearsals in May and up until performances start in July. Everyone bring in atleast one or more if you can. The more we collect, the more money Y.T. will make. Hope to see you soon and often with raffle items and Sponsorship money.

Thank You, Mrs. Maffet

Alice in Wonderland

Congratulations to Ms. Carol and her Musical Theater class at Allegro Dance Theater--for their delightful production of Alice in Wonderland last night at the PAC. It was entertaining and funny and the audience loved it. Many of the students in this class are also members of YTHC. It was a wonderful show!

Here is an article from the News-Enterprise about the show:

Allegro Dance Theatre to present ‘Alice in Wonderland’

The News-Enterprise

RADCLIFF — Allegro Dance Theatre will present the magical story of “Alice in Wonderland” at 7 p.m. Friday at Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center. With a cast of 33 students of the musical theater class at Allegro, the performance will include dramatic sets and costumes and a cast of imaginative characters — from the Cheshire Cat to the Queen of Hearts’ deck of cards — to tell the tale made famous long ago by Lewis Carroll.

It is the third Disney Junior production Allegro has brought to the local stage. Last year, the dance company put on “Aladdin” and the year before it was “The Lion King.”

This year’s production is uniquely challenging to the group because it includes students of many ages and abilities. The youngest dancer is 9, while the oldest in the group are college students.

“There are lots of parts in it,” studio owner and director Carol Zagar said. “It’s a lot to do.”

Inclement winter weather also has made rehearsing for the show a challenge, Zagar said. “But I know they’re committed.”

In addition to the already entertaining fantastical story, Zagar wanted to make this production as educational as possible. It will include an authentic Scottish sword dance performed by Tweedledee and Tweedledum and other characters performing the Scottish Highland Fling.

“It’s not just entertainment,” Zagar said.

The excitement is building! Mock auditions are this Saturday! The mock auditions will help prepare you for the real auditions in April. See you Saturday!

We had a great workshop today!

We had a wonderful turnout for our workshop today. There were 57 young people who came to take part and that's terrific. As usual, Mrs. Westfall worked with them on the music, Mrs. Zagar on the dance sections, and Mr. Caldera on the acting. We're so proud of each and every one of them.

Mrs. Clark did a great job on the workshop tee shirts and delivered them today. They look fantastic. When the weather warms up (which hopefully will be soon) we all need to wear those when we're out and about to be walking advertisements!

REMINDERS: The next workshop is March 15 and it will be a mock audition to prepare you for the real thing in April. It will be from 11-2:45 at the PAC. There will be a parent meeting from 2:00-2:45--SEE LETTER POSTED ABOVE.

Read your audition form carefully so that you understand the time that youth theatre will require this summer. It's a big commitment, but if you decide to make it, it's an awesome experience! Just ask any of the young people who have been in previous shows. You don't need to bring the audition form for mock auditions next month. Bring it on April 18 or 19.

ALSO: Gatti's night is Monday night and YTHC will receive a percentage of the sales--but only if you have a coupon. PLEASE use the coupons. Call the Marsees or the Maffets if you need a coupon before you go.

Fundraiser at Gatti's

On Tuesday, January 15, Mrs. Maffet organized a fundraiser at Gatti's. It was fairly well attended and YTHC will receive a percentage of the sales made by YTHC people. Thanks for coming out and doing your part!!

Thank you First Federal

FROM THE NEWS-ENTERPRISE:

With a crowd of young actors on hand, Beauty and the Beast came out Saturday, above, to present a check for $10,000 from First Federal Savings Bank to the Youth Theatre of Hardin County at the conclusion of the theatre's workshop at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School. The Beauty and the Beast were Keith Johnson, president and CEO of First Federal Savings Bank, and Gwen Brink also with the bank. The money will cover approximately one-third of the theater's production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," theater President Bill Marsee said. The gift is the largest single donation in the organization's 37-season history, according to board members. This season's costs are expected to exceed a typical year due to the more elaborate costumes and sets required for the show. With the Beast head removed, Keith Johnson, president and CEO of First Federal Savings Bank, left, speaks with the media after presenting a $10,000 check to the Youth Theatre of Hardin County. Performances are set for the second and third weekends in July.
THANK YOU FIRST FEDERAL SAVINGS BANK!!
