Alice in Wonderland

Congratulations to Ms. Carol and her Musical Theater class at Allegro Dance Theater--for their delightful production of Alice in Wonderland last night at the PAC. It was entertaining and funny and the audience loved it. Many of the students in this class are also members of YTHC. It was a wonderful show!

Here is an article from the News-Enterprise about the show:

Allegro Dance Theatre to present ‘Alice in Wonderland’

The News-Enterprise

RADCLIFF — Allegro Dance Theatre will present the magical story of “Alice in Wonderland” at 7 p.m. Friday at Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center. With a cast of 33 students of the musical theater class at Allegro, the performance will include dramatic sets and costumes and a cast of imaginative characters — from the Cheshire Cat to the Queen of Hearts’ deck of cards — to tell the tale made famous long ago by Lewis Carroll.

It is the third Disney Junior production Allegro has brought to the local stage. Last year, the dance company put on “Aladdin” and the year before it was “The Lion King.”

This year’s production is uniquely challenging to the group because it includes students of many ages and abilities. The youngest dancer is 9, while the oldest in the group are college students.

“There are lots of parts in it,” studio owner and director Carol Zagar said. “It’s a lot to do.”

Inclement winter weather also has made rehearsing for the show a challenge, Zagar said. “But I know they’re committed.”

In addition to the already entertaining fantastical story, Zagar wanted to make this production as educational as possible. It will include an authentic Scottish sword dance performed by Tweedledee and Tweedledum and other characters performing the Scottish Highland Fling.

“It’s not just entertainment,” Zagar said.
